WHAT IS THE BREAST HEALTH FOUNDATION?
The Breast Health Foundation, which is a Not for Profit Company, was established in April 2002 in conjunction with several companies and organisations to educate the public on breast cancer and breast health, increase awareness and empower women.
The company has been formed to be a transparent and effective mechanism of reaching our nation. Any money raised is used to teach women the importance of self-examination and medical examination. The aim is to put to rest myths surrounding breast cancer and to have an open forum where women feel that they can come forward with their problems.
The Directors and members of the Breast Health Foundation have been chosen because of their expertise in the field of breast cancer as well as their desire to do something for the women in our communities. Traditionally women in Africa have been seen as the heart and soul of the family. By ensuring their health, by educating them it perpetuates a mind-set of health education that moves on to children, husbands and partners.
There are many organisations helping women and particularly aimed at breast cancer. What is different about the Breast Health Foundation is the fact that experts in the field of breast cancer, from general practitioner to specialist level are used to guide the use of funds.
Our purpose:
